Pilot target 2028
Green NH3 from Norwegian hydropower — produced locally, right at the energy source.
Farm Resources AS is working to build and operate the first decentralised pilot plants for green NH₃ production in Norway.
…with passion for humanity, and the energizing power of water.
Why
From fragile global dependence to resilient local readiness.
Food production worldwide depends on synthetic fertiliser, where NH3 is an essential raw material. Without synthetic fertiliser, every second person would go without food on the table. Europe imports most of its NH3 needs from geopolitically unstable regions.
The answer is not more imports — it lies where the renewable energy can already be harvested. We are working to combine Norwegian hydropower with modern electrolysis technology to produce NH3 locally. And in doing so, create new value chains for rural communities.
A pilot plant for local green NH₃ production in Norway in operation. Technology development, experience and knowledge-building lay the groundwork for scaling.
Small hydropower plants in Norway generate 12 TWh annually. Several of them do not produce optimally. In addition there is an estimated untapped small hydropower potential of 14 TWh not yet developed.
Green NH₃ from a renewable power source — delivers a zero balance for CO₂ emissions both in production and in end uses such as fuel or fertiliser.
